GCS Grades 3 and 4

The Adventures of Mrs. Bouter's Class

Fitness Fun! – Week 32 at GCS

I just want to say how blessed I was to meet with parents last week to discuss the tremendous progress your children have made over the past months. It has been a joy to see them transforming day by day. I’m looking forward to completing this last quarter with them!

Re-Enrollment Reminder

We are now at the mid-point of April – this is a reminder that April is re-enrollment month.  If you have not already re-enrolled for next year, please be sure to submit payment to school office ($200) by April 30 to ensure your child(ren)’s place in their class for the 2017-18 school year.  Re-enrollment increases to $250 after April 30 and we cannot guarantee availability in classes after that point.

Please Welcome Ms. Jenkins & Mrs. Wilting

As we say goodbye to our beloved Mrs. Barton as she goes on maternity leave, we are excited to announce two new staff members that will be joining the GCS team – Ms. Chloe Jenkins and Mrs. Julie Wilting.

Ms. Jenkins will be taking over for Mrs. Barton in the role of Lead Teacher in Grade 1/2, while Mrs. Wilting will be assuming the responsibility of all elementary music in the next week.  Please take the time to welcome these two new team members to the GCS community!

Family Fitness Week & Family Fun Run

Mrs. DeBeor and her Gr. 10 Leadership class have prepared a fun-filled week of events, challenges, and activities that are sure to encourage students to get in shape and celebrate the importance of a healthy lifestyle.  Family Fitness Week starts tomorrow with events happening daily leading up to Saturday’s Family Fun Run. Here are some details about the events:

Stop-Drop-and-Exercise! – The Gr. 10 exercise gurus will visit classes twice a day to lead students in one-minute exercises. After all, “If the bum is numb, the brain is the same.” 😛

Healthy Tip of the Day – Each day, students will have the opportunity to win prizes if they are able to recite the fitness tip for that day. The fitness tip will be announced in the morning and posted on the board for students to write down as their first morning activity.

Teacher Pedometer Guess Challenge – Who do you think is on their feet the most in the school? Well, we’re about to find out! Every day, one teacher has been asked to wear a pedometer to see how many steps he or she takes in the day. Every morning, the Gr. 10 fundraising coordinators will be at the entranceway to take students’ guesses about how many steps that teacher will walk. Guesses cost 10 cents a piece. This is open to the entire school and a prize will be given to the person with the closest guess.

Hoops Competition – On Monday at 12:30, the Gr. 10 class will be leading a knockout competition in the gym. It is 10 cents to enter a game. This is open to the entire school. Everyone is encouraged to come out and participate or cheer on the competitors.

Elementary Station Day and Game Day – The Gr. 10 class will also be leading an educational station day for the elementary students on Tuesday from 2-3 p.m. and a game day on Wednesday from 2-3 p.m.

Elementary Pedometer Challenge – The elementary will again be competing across classes for the greatest average steps per student. Each class will have one day to wear pedometers and try to earn the title of The Most Active Class.

Family Fun Run – Ending the week is the annual Family Fun Run! Gr. 10 class hopes to see you all on Saturday! Registration begins at 10:00 am, warm-ups at 10:45, and the race at 11:00 am.
