GCS Grades 3 and 4

The Adventures of Mrs. Bouter's Class

A Very Merry Un-Birthday! – Week 11 at GCS

on November 13, 2016

We are indeed thankful for veterans who gave their lives for the cause of freedom. Thank you to those who came to GCS’s Remembrance Day Service last Wednesday to honour those who fought for peace.

Shoeboxes Come to School Tomorrow!

Remember to send in your shoeboxes for Operation Christmas Child!

A Very Merry Un-Birthday Party

Over the past few months I’ve been acknowledging the students’ good character traits and positive attitudes by rewarding the class with little pompoms to fill up what I call my “I Like It!” Jar. The class has reached their goal of filling the jar! For a class prize we are going to be having an ”un-birthday” party on Wednesday, November 16th. Okay, it’s really just an excuse to play a few cheesy games and have some CAKE which I was dreaming about having in lieu of my own birthday coming up. In any case, the last hour of the day should be a time for some well-earned fun. Way to go, class!

Report Cards and Sign-up for Parent-Teacher Interviews

Report cards will be going home on Thursday, November 17th. The communication form will need to be signed and both it and the envelope returned to me. However, you can keep the actual report card for your records. Also, remember that the sign-up sheets for parent-teacher interviews are in the front entrance of the school for those of you who have not signed-up yet. Parents of ESL students need to arrange to meet with the ESL teacher as well.

Usborne Book Sale

Once again this year, Mrs. Biech will be hosting an Usborne book sale during parent-teacher interviews. This is a fantastic opportunity to begin some early Christmas shopping, especially since students will be filling out their own wish lists of books that they find interesting! For those unable to attend, you can always email Mrs. Biech with orders at mbiech.ubooks@gmail.com. The online catalog can be found at http://www.usbornebooksathome.ca/usborne_books/browse.asp. All proceeds go to the GCS library.

Say Cheese… Again!

Picture retakes will be on Thursday, November 17th. Please let me know if your child will be having his or her picture taken again. The original school pictures should be coming in soon for you to view and decide if you would like to order any or if you would like to have retakes done.

Grade Four Book Report

Reminder! Also on Thursday, non-ESL students in grade four will be presenting their book reports on Song of the Brook. I am looking forward to seeing their creative book floats!

New Bible Memory Verse

After the long passage in Romans, this verse will seem very easy for students to learn. It is due on November 24th.

“Ah, Sovereign Lord, you have made the heavens and the earth by your great power and outstretched arm. Nothing is too hard for you.” – Jeremiah 32:17

Looking to the Future… The Christmas Program!

This year we are very pleased to be presenting the musical The Power of the King for our annual Christmas program to take place on Friday, December 16th. Just a heads-up for anyone shopping for Christmas attire in the next few weeks: the dress code for the concert is red, silver, white, or black clothing. The students will look super sharp the night of the performance!
