A Storm Is Brewing! – Week 29 at GCS

on April 10, 2016

GCS Island Storm Game

There is a Storm a’comin’ to GCS tomorrow!  Our Knights are asked to wear their GCS apparel as we take on the Island Storm in a game we’ve titled, “Are You Smarter than a GCS Knight?”  The Storm team is planning a visit to our school tomorrow morning to provide elementary students with a free ticket to their game this coming Friday night.

The Island Storm is partnering with GCS to help raise funds for our school. Approximately 200 tickets have been provided for families to purchase at a reduced cost of $10/ticket, with proceeds going towards our capital campaign.

Individuals wishing to purchase tickets are asked to send their money to your child’s homeroom teacher before Thursday, April 14th.  It is first come, first serve, and tickets will sell quickly! A voucher will be provided to you for the game, however your voucher must be redeemed at the Eastlink Box Office to obtain your seat.

Spread the word to your friends, family, and co-workers! We hope you will all join us to cheer on our Island Storm and display our GCS school spirit!

NOTE:  This is not a school-supervised event.  Elementary students (including cheerleaders) must be accompanied by a parent.

Science Supplies

Students are enjoying the unit all about the science of sound with Mrs. MacNeill. Students are asked to bring any supplies that they can use to construct their own musical instruments for tomorrow’s science class. This can include anything from pop bottles and elastics to ice cream containers and tissue boxes.

  • When: Tuesday, April 19

Parent-Teacher Interviews

Parent-teacher interviews are scheduled for this week on Thursday, April 14, from 6:00-9:00 PM and on Friday, April 15, from 10:00-12:00 AM. Sign-up sheets will soon be located in the front entrance of the school.

Easter Seals Ambassador

On the morning of Monday April 18th we will be having Tyra Mackeeman, the 2016 Easter Seals Ambassador, visit the school. We are excited to welcome her and to learn more about special needs on PEI.

Canadian Achievement Tests

Next week will be unusual as students will be writing the Canadian Achievement Tests. Students will not have regular math or language arts work for the majority of the week, but they must keep on top of their reading, penmanship, Bible verse memorization, and spelling work.
