Let’s Hit the Ice! – Week 23 at GCS

on February 22, 2016

Hello parents!

It looks as if we’ll be having a full week at school this week!

Last week, students received their permission slips to attend our skating events at Simmons Arena.  The first elementary skate will occur TODAY, Monday, February 22nd, from 1:30-2:30. Students will travel to the arena on the bus, and return to the school for pick up at 3:00.  Parents are welcome to attend the school skate, as there are many skates to tie. The more the merrier!

Every student must have the following items in order to go on the ice: skates, mittens, and a helmet.  A small section of the rink will be allotted for hockey, and those participating in this aspect of the skate must have hockey gloves and a stick.

Students who have not already returned their $3.00 and signed permission slip must do so tomorrow morning.  If students do not plan to skate, they are encouraged to make arrangements to be picked up at lunch time.

Cheer Showcase and Frozen Yogurt Sale

We are delighted that, at the end of the school day tomorrow, Tuesday, February 23, students will be entertained by the EPIC Cheerleaders’ Showcase! After the performance, students may purchase frozen yogurt for $3.00 as part of the cheerleaders’ fundraiser to buy new mats.

Scholastic Book Orders

A Scholastic book order form was sent home with your child this past week.  There is NO expectation that you place an order from it. However, if you do wish to order a book for your child you may send the money into school or pay for it online via credit card or cheque.  Please refer to the last page of each order form for more details or go to:

Please have any orders placed by Wednesday, February 24th.

Ski Date Rescheduled

Many of you have asked about our missed ski day.  Please note that a second ski day has been arranged for Thursday, March 3rd.  If you wish to have your child’s money returned to you until that date, please send me an email indicating so.

Bible Memory Verse

Students have been practicing this passage daily, but they will certainly need more time at home to master it! The due date for these verses is Tuesday, March 1st.

“The Son is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn over all creation.  For in him all things were created: things in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or powers or rulers or authorities; all things have been created through him and for him.  He is before all things, and in him all things hold together.  And he is the head of the body, the church; he is the beginning and the firstborn from among the dead, so that in everything he might have the supremacy.  For God was pleased to have all his fullness dwell in him,  and through him to reconcile to himself all things, whether things on earth or things in heaven, by making peace through his blood, shed on the cross.” – Colossians 1:15-20
