GCS Grades 3 and 4

The Adventures of Mrs. Bouter's Class

It’s Christmastime Down on the Range – Week 14 at GCS

on December 9, 2015

Hello parents!

Well, it’s looking like it will be a busy week with the final preparations for our Christmas Program and Hour of Code!

New Students

Coming in January we will be are pleased to welcome Steven and Nick, two twin ESL students, to our grade 3 class. I’m sure students in grade 3/4 will make them feel welcome!

Christmas Musical

It’s Christmas at Bethlehem Gulch, and the elementary students have arrived at the ranch for their annual school Christmas party. Miss Diane, the owner of the ranch, shares the message of Christ’s birth, and Robert, one lost and lonely child, finds the best Christmas gift ever… Jesus.

Students have worked diligently over the past several weeks and are prepared to deliver their Christmas musical to friends and family this coming Friday afternoon and evening.  Our afternoon matinee begins promptly at 1:30 PM, with a second performance commencing at 7 PM. Students are asked to arrive at their classroom by 6:30 PM for the evening performance.

Again, we are asking students to come dressed in country/ranch attire- plaid shirts, jeans, cowboy boots (if you have them), belts, etc.  NO HATS please, just for the actors!

Yeehaw, we are sure lookin’ forward to seeing y’all!

Hour of Code

Hour of Code is a global movement reaching tens of millions of students in 190+ countries.  Every 21st-century student should have the opportunity to take part in creating technology that’s changing our world. The basics of computer science and coding help nurture creativity and problem-solving skills, and prepare students for any future career.

Over 300 partners have come together to support this grassroots campaign, including Microsoft, Google, Salesforce, The Walt Disney Company, Target, the Gates Foundation, Khan Academy and more.

This week, every learner at GCS, from our youngest to oldest, will participate in a minimum of one hour coding tutorials.  We are thrilled to be part of this campaign for a second year, and look forward to watching students embrace challenges and feel empowered by their learning.

Christmas Theme Days

We’ll be having a ball next week with some fun dress-up days in elementary!

Tuesday – Red/Green Day: Students can wear anything they have with these Christmas colors and they’ll blend right in!

Wednesday – PJ and Movie Day: Students can dress in their comfy pajamas and even take along a stuffy friend for the day. They’ll be treated with a Christmas movie and some hot chocolate and cookies.

Thursday – Christmas Hair or Hat Day: Calling all Santa hats! Students can doll up their hair or hat to look as festive as they feel!
