Well, it’s that time of year when the sun is seeming to grow brighter day by day! It’s also time for such events as re-enrollment, interviews, the annual GCS drama production, The Fun Run, and more! Now if only the snow would melt…
April is re-enrollment month. To ensure your child’s seat for the 2015-16 year, please register your child by paying the annual $200 re-enrollment fee by April 30. The re-enrollment fee increases on May 1.
Our inaugural Planters’ Gala is Saturday, April 11, beginning at 6:30pm at the Culinary Institute. All families are invited to this formal dinner, with a celebration of the history and the future vision of the school. Tickets are still available for this event ($100 per person with a $50 charitable tax receipt); please contact Mr. Neil Thompson or Mrs. Natalie MacNeill to purchase tickets. Please note that this is the last day to buy a ticket!
GCS Drama Production
The 2014-15 GCS High School Drama “Night at the Wax Museum” will be presented on both Friday, April 17 and Saturday, April 18; both shows begin at 7pm. Tickets are $8 in advance (at the SCRIP desk, school office, and from cast members) or $10 at the door.
Sign up sheets for interviews are located in the school entrance. Interviews are on Thursday, April 16th, from 6:00 – 9:00 pm and Friday, April 17th, from 10:00 – 12:00 am. I look forward to meeting with each of you, especially since we missed the last round of interviews due to snow storms.
Say cheese! Forms were sent home yesterday with information regarding Spring Photos, which have been moved to April 24th. Siblings can have their pictures taken together, but the forms must be completed in order for this to take place.
Our third annual Family Fun Run will take place on the beautiful spring morning of May 2nd. Registration forms (individual and family) were sent home with students last week. Please take note that those who register early will do so at a reduced rate. Also, those who register before April 17th will guarantee having Fun Run t-shirts. Furthermore, students may be sponsored for participating in the race and will receive a prize for every ten dollars they raise. All proceeds from this event go to purchasing new elementary playground equipment. Check your child’s agenda for the sponsorship form.
No PD Day
Please note that May 1st will be a regular day of classes instead of a professional development day.
Grade 4 Book Reports
Grade four students were sent home with a novel about a iconic missionary for their independent reading project. They will have to complete a book report on this novel. Since they are reading it entirely on their own, I request that you frequently ask your child about the book to ensure he or she understands the plot. Novels must be read by April 24th. Students who finish reading early can get the project outline from me and begin their report right away.
