GCS Grades 3 and 4

The Adventures of Mrs. Bouter's Class

“There will never be a storm as bad as me,” said no Juan ever.

on February 16, 2015

Well, if you’re anything like me, you’ve run out of storm chips long ago, your shovel is broken, and you are wondering why you live in Atlantic Canada. 😛 In all honesty, I hope you all enjoyed your day at home with family. I’m sure this Islander Day will live on in memory for a long time to come.

Classes Cancelled

Please note that the English Language School Board has cancelled school tomorrow to allow cleanup of roads across the island. That’s right: THERE’S NO SCHOOL TOMORROW.

International Potluck Dinner

The International Potluck Dinner scheduled for tomorrow night has been postponed until February 24. That being said, I’d like to encourage you to come to this event and celebrate the diversity of the families of our school! All are welcome for another great evening of musical entertainment, beginning at 5:00 pm, followed by fantastic food from around the world.

Skiing

Students have received their permission slips for our upcoming ski trip to Brookvale Provincial Ski Park. On Wednesday, February 18, students from Grades 3–12 will be leaving the school at 9:00 am.  Although high school students plan on travelling by bus, students in Grades 3–6 will require drives from parents.  If you are available to drive for us, please indicate this on your child’s permission slip.  Please ensure that both the yellow rental card and school permission slip are signed and returned, along with the money, by this Wednesday morning.  Students will return to school at approximately 2:30 pm and have permission to leave school at this time should parents arrange for early pick-up.

Let’s hit the slopes!

The Mount

We are still planning on going to The Mount this Thursday, February 19, to read to the seniors. Thank you to all who have volunteered to drive!

Upcoming Tests and Quizzes

As I hadn’t completed the spelling lists to pass out to students before the end of the day last Friday, and as we have no school tomorrow and two field trips this week, I’ve decided to not have a spelling test. The test for Spelling List 18 will be next week.

There are no other scheduled tests or quizzes.
