An “Outta This World” Encounter
What an honour it was to meet Col. Chris Hadfield! I especially loved his inspirational message about striving to fulfill his goal of doing the seemingly impossible and becoming an astronaut. Also, I’m sure that children and parents alike enjoyed his detailed and informative answers to the kids’ questions. I was also so very proud of how the students behaved as they waited patiently on stage until the very end for the opportunity to have a class picture with Col. Hadfield. It was well worth it in my opinion! I’m looking forward to printing out a copy to display on the classroom wall. 🙂
(Note: Pictures will be forth-coming. For some odd reason they will not upload properly.)
Thank you to all those who helped with drives and supplied treats for the Fall Party. It was a fantastic day of fall fun, complete with a hayride, scavenger hunt, and barbecue. A special thanks to Mrs. Laird for inviting us to her home and providing the food and beverages.
We are very excited to welcome Ashley into our class this coming Wednesday. It will be refreshing for us all to have another girl in the grade four class!
Operation Christmas Child
Last Wednesday in chapel, Mrs. Huizing kicked off the Christmas season with a video all about helping those in need via Operation Christmas Child. This excellent ministry blesses thousands of children each year who would otherwise never receive a gift. Not only that, but these children have the opportunity to hear the good news of the gospel! Last year, we sent 97 shoe boxes from our school and we’re hoping to beat that record. Shoe boxes will be sent home this week and collected on November 19th. Thanks to a generous donor, the shipping fees have already been covered so all you and your child have to do is get busy filling the box. I don’t know about you, but I am already excitedly planning what gifts to include.
Parent Teacher Interviews
Sign-up sheets for interview times should soon be posted in the school entrance. Be sure to sign up. I look forward to meeting with each of you to discuss the progress your child has made during the first quarter. If you are unable to come during the set times, then please email me so that we can set up another time to meet after regular school hours.
