After the barrage of snowstorms, we are back in full swing in the classroom!
Grade Four Individual Book Report Projects
Today grade four students took home a project outline and a grading rubric for an upcoming book report on a fiction novel of their choice. Books must be chosen by Monday. If they cannot find a book, I have some in the classroom and I can also arrange a trip to the school library to find an appropriate book. Please look over the outline and contact me with any questions you may have. Please pay special attention to the due dates. I did give them lots of time to finish reading their books.
Grade Three Book Report Projects
Grade three students have begun reading Secret in the Maple Tree in class, but some chapters will be assigned for reading at home. At the end of every chapter, students will be required to write a sentence on a sticky note summarizing what happened in the chapter. A project outline will be sent home with these students early next week.
Our postponed pizza party will be taking place tomorrow at lunch, followed by some intense math games. I hope they’ve been brushing up on their math facts!
Students in grade 5 and up will be presenting their Heritage Fair projects in the gym tomorrow afternoon. The projects will be open for public viewing from 2:00-3:00 if anyone in interested in seeing them. Our class will be visiting the Fair from 2:30-2:45.
Report Cards and Parent Teacher Interviews
It’s difficult to believe, but this week marks the end of the third quarter. Next week, report cards will be sent home on Thursday, April 10. Parent Teacher Interviews will take place on Thursday evening from 6:00-9:00 and Friday morning from 10:00-12:00. Sign up sheets will soon be located just inside the front doors of the school.
High School Drama Production
On Friday, April 11 and Saturday, April 12, older students will be performing the play Anchors Aweigh at the school. Advance tickets can be purchased from Mr. Thompson at the SCRIP cart for $8.00. Tickets can also be bought at the door on the night of the performance for $10.00. All proceeds will be going toward the 2014 Jamaica Missions Trip.
Canadian Achievement Tests
Students will be writing the Canadian Achievement Tests from April 15-17.
The Easter Seals Ambassador, Brett Robinson, is scheduled to visit our school on Tuesday, April 15.
I do believe that is it for now. Have a great rest of the week!
