GCS Grades 3 and 4

The Adventures of Mrs. Bouter's Class

Skating, Rap Day, Teacher Appreciation, Winter Carnival, and More

on March 5, 2014

Here’s what’s on the go for the two weeks before March Break!

Skating

This Friday will be a skating day at Simmons Sports Center from 1:30-2:30, leaving the school at 1:00. We are in need of drivers for this event, so please let me know if you can help out in this area. Remember that helmets should be worn for skating and that students need to be picked up at the rink by 2:45. if your child needs to be returned to the school, please let me know and I can arrange transportation.

Rap Day

The grade four students have been working hard learning the parts of speech in our Definition Rap. We will be recording our rap this Thursday if most of the students are ready. Students can sport sunglasses and “bling” for our rap video.

Teacher Appreciation

This Sunday, March 9, there will be a Teacher Appreciation Night at 6:00 in the sanctuary.

Winter Carnival

Next week we will be breaking into the winter gloom by participating in fun dress-up days for the whole school and ending the week with a day on the ski hill. I can’t wait to see the kids dressed in their costumes!

Monday – Pajama Day

Wear your favourite pajamas to school (but don’t forget to wake up)!  Bring your teddy bear or other favourite stuffed toy and have a photo taken to commemorate the day.

Tuesday – Disney Character Day

Have you got a costume?  Great!  Are you a creative mind who can make one?  Great! If not, join in the day by wearing a t-shirt or sweat-shirt, or carrying something with a Disney character motif.  Participate in a colouring contest over lunch to win a special prize.

Wednesday – First Day of Grace Christian School

In 1978, kindergarten classes began at GraceChristianSchool with elementary classes added in 1980.  Celebrate the early years of GCS by dressing up in the styles of the 1970′s and 80′s. Old yearbooks will be on display and students can test their knowledge of GCS history with a trivia contest at lunch.

Thursday – Create Your Own Fad Day

Calling all trend-setters! Create your own unique style for the day. Usually wear one pony-tail? What about five pony-tails? Like to collect pins? How about covering your shirt with them? Two different coloured shoes? Why not! Display your creativity and let your personality shine.

Friday – Skiing at Brookvale

******Remember that modest, clean, neat, and appropriate is always the expectation.******

Prize for 1,000 Stars

What an achievement! As a prize for earning 1,000 stars, the students chose having a pizza lunch with some math and circle games. I am tentatively planning this for the afternoon of Friday. March 28.
