GCS Grades 3 and 4

The Adventures of Mrs. Bouter's Class

May 14th-17th

on May 13, 2012

This week, we have many exciting things taking place in our classroom.  On Tuesday and Wednesday, the Grade Three students will be writing their provincial writing assessments.  Please be sure that your children are getting to bed on time!  As the year winds down, it is so important for the children to have a positive attitude and clear focus.

On Tuesday evening, The GCS Knight Lights and the Grade 5/6 Recorder class will be playing at the Awards Gala for the music festival.  Both groups will be receiving awards. This will be  a wonderful night of music, taking place at 6:00pm at Park Royal United Church.  Students who are involved in this event will need to come dressed in their Knight Lights T-shirt and jeans at 5:15 pm.  There are many children involved in the event, and seats fill up quickly. The cost for admission is $5.00 for adults, and all proceeds go to the Music Festival Association to help with the costs of hosting these wonderful events.

I still need parents who can help me move instruments to Park Royal Church after school on Tuesday.  If you can spare a few moments to drive over there after picking your children up from school and to help us transport instruments, that would be a wonderful help.  As you can imagine, it is a logisitcal feat : )

We have a very exciting opportunity for a full day FIELD TRIP on Thursday, May 17th.  A very talented friend of  mine works for the Town of Stratford.  He and a colleague have created two interactive workshop sessions to teach children about the importance of water conservation and watersheds.  I have attended the water conservation session, and it is SO much fun!  Over the weekend, he was telling me about his latest watershed project, and invited me to bring my class to the town hall for a full day of  fun, interactive learning. The children will attend one session in the morning, have an arts and gym session, eat their lunches, and attend the second session in the afternoon.  There is no cost for this, and I guarantee that it will be a most memorable and highly educational day.  I will send home permission slips tomorrow, and will need to know if I have enough drivers for this as soon as possible.  We will need to leave the school at 8:30am to be at the town hall by 9:00.

There will be no regularly scheduled tests for this upcoming week, as it will be a shorter week with the field trip on Thursday and the Student Appreciation Day on Friday. (Our high school Jamaica team will be leaving this day, and the junior high track and field team will be traveling to Truro for the annual meet. There will be NO SCHOOL on Friday.)  The following Monday, May 21st, is Victoria Day (NO SCHOOL), and Tuesday the 22nd is our trip to the Moncton Zoo!  Exciting things are happening in Grades 3 & 4!

I would like to thank you  for your continued support for our classroom events.  We thoroughly enjoyed our “Bean” party on Friday afternoon, and appreciated the yummy treats that were brought in by the grade threes.

Have a wonderful week!

Mrs. D.
